at the supermarché

hello again
we were at the supermarket -which is always a pleasure here, choosing new wines to try and seeing what foods are on promotion.
i was rather taken by the displays so (camera always in my pocket) i took a few snaps to share with you.

pretty fish, oysters and mussels...coquilles saint jacques

 sardines....

artichokes piled high in crates....

even the butter looks pretty, in its checked wrapping...

and, of course, bread...the ubiquitous baguettes.

.

hope you have enjoyed your stroll with me around the supermarket....in the heart of france.

october sun

october sun

after another frosty night, another fab sunny day.
this afternoon it was hot and the sky was deep blue.
what a joy at the end of october.

we were out and about and stopped for a teeny french sized coffee and hot chocolate....sat out on the terrace in the hot sun, bliss.

back home i had washed and hung out some whites in linen and cotton; just look at the colour of the sky ! deepest blue.

this evening the moon rose in spectacular fashion, not sure the camera caught its size and beauty but it was huge and peachy.

what a beautiful day. hope your day was special.

sweet thoughts & scents

with the cold snap, we have both woodburners lit, the feather duvet is on the bed, and so we are toasty warm. it feels and looks a bit like the waltons...remember them ?

surprisingly, yesterday afternoon, i was outdoors and felt real heat in the sun, lovely.....and snapped a late in the season bee checking out my white pansies in the windowboxes. he seemed to be very busy, as bees always are, and very happy buzzing from flower to flower in the warm french sunshine.

i planted the window boxes in a very simple style - white pansies (pensées here in france, meaning 'thoughts') and rosemary. i love white flowers and blossoms. they are so pure and so simple.
these little pansies are very sweetly scented and i love to touch the rosemary to release its herby scent - the two scents go together beautifully. it is delightful to 'visit' them just to have a sweet sniff.

the window boxes are complimented by extremely weather beaten, rather wonkey, old shutters. i find them charming !

wishing you sunny, sweet thoughts today.
talk to you very soon...

just starting out....

i posted my first (real) posting of my blog earlier, however it occured to me that you may like to read a little about me and france romance ....in the heart of france.

my biggest passion is very simple......i love looking at things, photographing them and equally enjoy looking at pictures other people have taken.

i love interiors, france and french things, animals (i love animals), food & wine and quirky things too. my husband and i love to visit nearby markets at the weekends and pick up all sorts of french objets.

you will make my blogging really special by dropping by to france romance to catch up on what i have seen and to read what i am up to. it will all be simple and easy going....taking a moment to see and share the beauty in the simple things in life here in the heart of france.

my biggest pleasure will be to share this with you; i hope you will come by again soon. i plan to blog everyday when possible.

in the meantime here are some of my french farmhouse photos....enjoy.

a bientot....

blue vintage enamelled jugs, antique salt box...

another blue enamelled jug....i love these things !

blue and white check napkins & vintage bunny egg cosies, stored in my little chicken wire cupboard.....see below

i hope you have enjoyed these 'blue' photos as much as i have enjoyed looking at them again.

the simple things in life.....hope your day is full of simple joy also.

see you soon

first frost

first frost

what a beautiful morning here in the heart of france !
the first frost has arrived and the countryside is gently dusted with a sugary coating.

i was out first thing at 7.30, the sun was up and the sky was already criss-crossed with 'plane trails.

we set off to the fields to check the horses...

...the dogs loved the fresh, frosty grass leaving their tracks as they sniffed and ran about.

back indoors and a hot breakfast of boiled free-range eggs, sporting their dotty hen cosies...
a perfect start to the day.

hope your day is sunny too.
thanks for dropping by.
a bientot.....
